Shiloh Nouvel Jolie Pitt was born in Namibia, Swakopmund on 27 May, 2006 to the actors Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. Angelina Jolie, an American actress and director, was born on 4 June 1975 to actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. After her parents got separated in 1976, her mother let go of her acting career in order to look after Jolie and her brother. Later, her mother with her kids and step father, film maker Bill Day moved to Palisades, New York. After five years when they came back, she decided she wanted to act and hence went to Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute where she was trained for two years. Jolie at the age of fourteen stopped her acting classes and wanted to be a funeral director. She started modeling and had been to Los Angeles, New York and London for the same. During this time, she wore black dress, tried on knife play and was in live in relationship with boyfriend. After she broke up with him, she continued her studies, graduated from high school, and retained back theatre studies.
Angelina Jolie first began her professional career in the year 1993 with the leading role in the science fiction sequel, 'Cyborg 2'. Though she made her first debut in 'Cyborg 2', it was 'Hackers' in the year 1995 which bagged her required recognition for her immense talent. After which, she immediately contacted the 'United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR)' so as to collect information on the international trouble spots. Also, she visited the refugee camps around the world to learn more about the present condition of these areas. She was shocked by what she saw during her field trip in February 2001, an 18 day mission to Sierra Leone and Tanzania. After she returned to Cambodia, she met the Afghan refugees in Pakistan. Hence, on 27 August 2001, Angelina Jolie became UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in Geneva at UNHCR headquarters. She has travelled in more than 30 countries and been on field missions where she spoke to the refugees and the internally displaced people throughout the world. She makes use of her public profile for a good cause with which she promotes the humanitarian causes and highlights them in the mass media.
Her works that cannot go unmentioned are 'Beyond Borders' and 'Sky Captain: The World of Tomorrow'. Also, she is the voice of the femme fatale Lola in the movie 'Shark Tale'. In the year 2007, Angelina Jolie made her directional debut in the documentary, 'A Place In Time'. This documentary shows daily life in 27 locations in a single week around the entire world. The film was later distributed to high schools via the National Education Association and was screened at the Tribeca Film Festival.
